7 DAYS SPECIAL CAMP – 2011



We conducted our special camp at Government U.P. School, Maravanthuruthu, Vaikom from 24-12-2011 to 30-12-2011.The theme of the camp was ‘Self reliance of youth through Entrepreneurship”.
The camp was inaugurated by Sri. Ajith, M.L.A , Vaikom legislative assembly at 4 PM. Sri.Karuthukunju, ward member presided over the function. Smt. Pushpamony, Kottayam Disrict block member, Sri. K.P Baby, Ward member, Smt Vineetha Sabu, Ward   member, School headmistress, College principal and Vice principal and College Union Chairman were attended the function. It comes to an end by 6 PM.


          A total of 100 students were registered in the camp including 64 girls. The whole volunteers are grouped into 6 groups during the ice breaking session. The session is managed by Sri. Biju Gopal, Programme officer. After the supper we went to bed by 11PM.
          On the next day, 25-12-2011, all volunteers are assembled at 6 AM at school ground. Assembly is started with NSS song, Exercise, message for the day, news paper reading, and previous day report presentation were the routine procedures of the assembly in all days.


          Camus beautification, compound wall painting, prepare a three dimensional map of kerala in ground, built a platform around the foot of the mango tree were the project we undertook in the camp. The Major works were very unconventional to our previous camp. It was a nice experience to the volunteers. With the help of the alumni of the school, we collected sufficient materials for platform.   
          The classes arranged were mainly based on the theme of the camp. Mr. Ajayakumar, Project officer (Higher) from industrial department (Topic – Self employment scheme) , Sri. Paulson, a large farm owner (Topic- White revolution), Dr. Bindu ,Deputy manager, VSOP(Topic – Food Processing), Sri. Roopesh Kumar, National and Inter national award winner of Responsible Tourism (Topic- Responsible Tourism) were handled the class sessions.
          The interactive session with successful industrialist was interesting and inspiring to the volunteers. They modified the volunteers business ideas with their experience. Sri. Raju, industrialist, Sri .Babu, ,business man (owner of Gentleman Groups ) and sri.Santhosh ,Owner of Glory boots and a Beauty Parlour were attended the session.

          We also had a very exciting and competing debate and discussion round. The very contemporary relevant topic ;’The moral policing in kerala’ and ‘whether the medias dis..
          We could made two farm visit ; a cow farm at T.V.Puram and a Aqua Tourism Project at Thalayazham ,Vechoor were motivational and made them close to the theme of the camp.
          The camp came to an end on 30-12-2011 by 2 pm.
