ENVIRONMENT DAY (5TH JUNE 2012)

We observed the environment day by planting sapling in the campus . We planted 15 saplings on 5th june 2012. The function was inaugrated by planting a sapling by our honourable principle  Government college tripunithura.

CAP HELP DESK



We started our activities for the academic year 2012-13 by setting a ‘CAP Help Desk’ in the college on 22.05.2012 for helping the candidates who are seeking admission to UG programme  in the colleges affiliated under Mahatma Gandhi University through CAP, a single window for online registration programme.
            College principal Dr. Margaret George inaugurated the help desk by registering the name of one candidate. NSS programme officers gave proper training about the CAP procedure and directions to the volunteers to administer the programme. We arranged the facilities for Primary registration and option registration by arranging 3 computer nodes at a time with adequate volunteers in addition to the telephonic assistance. Every day, help desk started from 9.30 am to 5 Pm.

Pusthaka Thottil. (15.03.2012)


In line with the university envisaged programme of ‘NSS pusthakkottil’, we collected old text from students and teachers. The Sri. C. H. Abdul Latheef , Member Syndicate, Mahatma Gandhi University, inaugurated the programme. Principal, Dr. Margrat George, put a collection of text in the cradle. We collected a wide range of texts covering comics ,short stories, Novels, Poems and motivational texts. It is decided to hand over the texts to the neighbouring schools and local liabraries.
             

Seminar on Mentoring and Meditation (09-03-2012)


            In this modern complex world, life to human beings become full of stress and tension. Students life is more vulnerable to its effects. Proper mentoring Is the need of the day. In this context, we organised a session on Mentoring and Meditation.
Dr. Sanku Panikkar, Director, ‘Thadhasthu’ a meditation centre , Aluva handled the session. He explained different reasons for stress and its symptoms.  He practiced his  meditation oriented approach in the session. In that spiritual occasion, students identified themselves and realised their mistakes. During that time, the hall was filled with weeping sound and crying of students. It was the stage of confession and repentance.
80 stressed, reserved or gloomy and having unusual behaviour students are selected for the session from the college .Kum. Aswathy Krishnan ,Volunteer secretary and Sam Purushothaman ,Volunteer Secretary  accounted welcome speech and vote of thanks respectively.

‘BODY, MIND –AWARENESS AND COUNSELLING’


The NSS organised a one day seminar in association with Women cell of the college on ‘Body, Mind – Awareness and Counselling’ on 10.01.2012, Thursday .Dr Gracy Thomas ,Gynaecologist, Adarsh, NRHM Eranakulam and Dr. Divya Ajay, Psychologist and Counsellor took the class. They allowed the boys too attend the programme. They provided proper sex education to students and clarified their doubts
            Around 300 students attended the program including 180 NSS volunteers. Principal and teachers also were present. The seminar developed in an interactive mode and it helped students to clarified their doubts properly. Krishnalal , a volunteer welcomed the audience and the resource person and Aswathy Krishnan accounted vote of thanks.

WORK SHOP ON HARDWARE AND NETWORKING



The Career guidance Cell of NSS organised a one day workshop on ‘Hardware and Networking’. In this information age , the job prospects in this area is very high. This workshop aimed to introduce this service sector properly and make them aware about its potentials. Besides provide a basic practical knowledge about the computer hardware and its servicing. Since the computer becomes household equipment, this knowledge will help them to solve many small computer problems.

ART FROM WASTE- WORKSHOP



We have organised a workshop on flower making. Smt. Chinnamma  led the class. She demonstrated and taught the volunteers for making a variety of flowers and bouquet. Flower from plastic bag, vegetable leaves; vegetable waste, sponge, pencil scraps soap etc are some of the varieties. She also taught to making some beautiful flowers using materials purchased from the market.



CAREER SEMINAR-‘ THE WORLD OF ANIMATION’


             
The Career cell of NSS has organised a one day seminar and workshop on Animation and its career opportunities .A team of faculties from PROVICD institute handled the session. They narrated and demonstrated the animation techniques and procedures in simple and interesting manner. The first session of the class was about the theoretical side of the animation and about the industry. It clearly draws out the picture of the animation industry and its requirements. The afternoon session was really a workshop. The demonstrated how is an animation created. They gave a practical session to the volunteers.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION (26-01-2012)



We celebrated the Republic day with all pride and patriotism .The Principal Dr. Margaret George, hoisted the flag at 8.15 AM. Volunteers sung national integration songs loudly while hoisting the flag. After that Principal gave the message to the volunteers.

ONE DAY SEMINAR- ‘CYBER CRIME’(20TH JAN 2012)



           
In the light of increasing cyber crime and practices, we organised a seminar on ‘Cyber world – awareness of Rights and Crime’ for educating the students about various knots and traps in internet, in association with college women cell.

ORATORY CLUB(7th JAN 2012)



It is club formed under the banner of NSS objective of providing a platform to our volunteers to practice and improve their oratory skills and make them confident for appearing interviews and discussions.

7 DAYS SPECIAL CAMP – 2011



We conducted our special camp at Government U.P. School, Maravanthuruthu, Vaikom from 24-12-2011 to 30-12-2011.The theme of the camp was ‘Self reliance of youth through Entrepreneurship”.

We organised a Pre-Special camp Orientation class to the volunteers who are registered for the special camp-2011.Progamme officer Sri. Biju Gopal explained about the theme and nature of activities to be planned at camp site. A briefing about the camp place, natives, geographical features, scheduled classes etc. are made.

We observed the ‘Vijay Divas’ with one minute  silent prayer for the sole of courageous militants who fought and died for protecting our nations boundaries and our safety in  1971 Indo- Pak war.

            We observed the day with all its importance. We distributed the AIDS awareness pamphlets and pasted posters and stickers about the AIDS awareness programme in and around the campus. Volunteers took pledge for fighting against AIDS and extending their sympathy and caring to the AIDS patients.

Road Safety Week


Few important Road Safety Tips are mentioned below :
  1. Don't use your mobile phone whilst driving
  2. Belt up in the back 
  3. Don't drink and drive 
  4. Always adhere to speed limits 
  5. Take special care about children, senior citizens and pedestrians. 
  6. Don't drive if tired. 
  7. Pedestrians should walk cautiously.
  8. Always observe and anticipate other road users.
